RECENT PROJECTS
Country House, Surrey
We were delighted and honoured to be involved with a complete rennovation for Lord and Lady Astor of Hever. It involved a comprehensive redesign of a large residential property in the heart of Surrey and was to feel as if they had always been there, steeped in their family histories but with contemporary flair. Lady Astor’s extensive understanding of design positively embraced new ideas surrounding colour and texture, and the results display more than an appreciative nod to its usefulness when enhancing as a backdrop. From the start, our visits to Chelsea Harbour’s Design Center gave us a great understanding of the direction to go in. In addition to the research behind fabrics, lighting, floor and wall coverings, a priority was to re-upholster heirloom furniture with weaves, textures and passementiere that gave a fresh approach to timeless pieces.
For us, it was a joy to work with such wonderful fabrics, embroideries rich in colour and texture, fabrics that were steeped in historical design taken from archives. The project was driven by the client’s enthusiasm and love of the results as they unfolded, and we worked closely for a duration of 12 months from the building’s bare bones right through to its completion. I felt positive withdrawal symptoms when this was finished, as it was a showcase for how beautifully something can come together.
“Emma Perkins made all my curtains, voiles, blinds, bedspreads and valances for our recently refurbished house. She also helped me choose fabrics, paint colours and advised on general interior design. She is extremely honest, reliable and great fun to work with and her work is exquisite. I highly recommend her". Lady Astor of Hever
